Supreme Court Rules EPA Can Regulate Greenhouse Gases
The Supreme Court has ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency has the authority to regulate the emission of "greenhouse gases" linked to global warming. In a 5-4 decision, the court ruled that the EPA violated the Clean Air Act by improperly declining to regulate new-vehicle emissions standards to control the pollutants that scientists say contribute to global warming. Supreme Court votes 5-4 empowering the Clean Air Act
The Supreme Court in a 5-4 ruling declared that carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases are air pollutants under the Clean Air Act. There were laws in the books that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the White House chose to use the lesser degree favoring not to use stringent measures and take measures that were dubious in nature.
