Protest Herth Realty: Stop Gentrification of the Castro!
In recent years, we have seen the Castro emptied of gays, the Mission of Latinos, and the Bayview of African Americans. The neighborhoods are being emptied by real estate speculation and greed. The newcomers are primarily affluent, white and straight. The minorities who have shaped these communities cannot compete with the new-comers for apartments and homes.
Stop Herth! is a tenants’ rights organization devoted to ending the gentrification of the Castro neighborhood. The focus of Stop Herth...

Bicyclist badly (fatally?) injured by speeding motorcyclist on Ashby tonight
Tonight at about 11:10/11:15, a woman on or with a bicycle was hit by a speeding vehicle on Ashby just east of Acton Street. At first I thought it must have been the speeding motorcycle that I had just heard (I heard a brief pause between the motorcycle and the pieces of the bike hitting the ground, though), but some neighbors think it could have been a police car that would have been chasing it. All I know is that the CHP responded within a minute, as if they'd been a block or less away, a...

The Labor Council of San Francisco has sold out on standards and made a pact with the devil itself. Add to ACORN, Local Union 22, the Plumbers Union Local 38, the BVHP Project Area Committee, and the Citizens Advisory Committee to the Shipyard - and you could not have gathered a bunch of worse culprits - all with a dubious history, less integrity, and totally out of sync with San Franciscans and decent folks that want to do the right thing with Affordable Housing....
