The Idea of a Black President (audio/mpeg 1.4MB)
For much of the US populace, the very idea of a Black president is one so new, so novel, that it forces many people to think of it as if it is barely possible; as if it is the stuff of fiction, not fact.
Fiction has indeed been the realm of this idea, as in movies, and television series, actors have played the part, but that, of course, is on TV....

In Shanland: Behind Enemy Lines in Burma
Recently, I went into Burma to do a story with the Shan State Army, a rebel group fighting the Burmese government. The government doesn’t allow any journalists into the country. They control the internet and citizens have to use a thumb-print reader if they want to logon. They control the phones, mail, and cable TV. Basically the only news that can get in or out of Burma is by people crossing illegally, under the protection of one of the tribal armies....

Speaker Nancy Pelosi is doing Hunters Point NO favor - it is a Superfund Site - $1 Billion
When the clueless Mayor Gavin Newsom makes a statement that Speaker Nancy Pelosi has got the City and County of San Francisco - some $82 million or so - for the on going clean up - it really makes no sense. The Hunters Point Naval Shipyard needs over $1 Billion just to clean up Parcel E2 and Parcel E. It need more to clean up the other parcels B, C, D, and F - that is the Bay. Many, very polluting experiments - linked to the Atom Bomb, Depleted Uranium, Radiated Animals buried all over Hunter...

Winnemem Wintu Tribe and CSPA Respond to Governor's Statement on Delta Vision Report
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger used the release of the Delta Vision Blue Ribbon Task Force's final report on Monday, December 17 as yet another opportunity to campaign for his water bond proposal for new dams and a peripheral canal. Schwarzenegger's proposal would result in increased water exports from the California Delta to subsidized agribusiness and southern California, further imperiling an estuary already in steep decline. Delta smelt, longfin smelt, threadfin shad, juvenile striped bas...

Interview with San Francisco 8 Defendant Richard Brown: A Case of Injustice & Torture
Eight former Black Panthers were arrested January 23, 2007 and charged with murder and conspiracy related to the killing 35 years ago of a San Francisco police officer. This is not the first time these same charges have been brought against some of these defendants. Similar charges were thrown out in the 1970s after it was revealed that police used torture to extract confessions in New Orleans in 1973. It appears that the government plans to introduce the same torture-tainted evidence in 2007...
