Navy wants to give concord base to corporation rather than the people
The military has plans to trade the Concord Naval Weapons Station to Haliburton-wannabee firm Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure, Inc. This plan would bypass a two-year public planning process by the city. Oakland Condo Conversion Ordinance Delayed
Many Oaklanders feel the city is on the cusp of a new era. Moving from one with an unofficial mantra of “all development is good development” to another where the materialization of a “model city” recognizes that not all development is smart development. It seems a few city council members understood this and in a last-ditch effort tried to ram through a condo conversion ordinance—to no avail—that was reminiscent of the nearly by-gone era of ad hoc and fragmented development policy....

UC Regents vote to cut oaks
UC Regents voted tonight to move forward with a high tech gym in the location that isnow Memorial grove in Berkeley CA. This will entail cutting all of the trees there. A tree sit has been set up to stop this....
