Law Enforcement in California Needs Transparency and Disclosure to the Media and Public
Currently, the legal status afforded California law enforcement prevents disclosure of relevent and important information to the media and public for oversight. Citizens' complaints are not disclosed in terms of substative content. In the age of less-than-lethal weapons for law enforcement where no physical evidence is often obtainable of police misconduct, such transparency of law enforcement records are necessary as a human rights issue....
