Hayward Teachers Settle; The Task That Still Remains
On 4/26/07, KPFA's evening news, 6 p.m., reported the Hayward teachers voted overwhelmingly (some 890 to 106 or so) for the union contract giving teachers an 11% raise over 2 years plus a 1% bonus. The teachers wanted 17% in 1 or 2 years originally. The basic funding problems remain because Democrats & Republicans in Sacamento are not taxing the rich....

Tests, Pizza, Bald Principal--PARTY!!!
High School Administrations bribe the students to take tests with food and silly promises. Students do not want to take standardized tests because they recoqnize the futility in them. Standardized tests do not actually manage to evaluate either the students or the schools accurately. Most students do not care about the results, so they do not really even try. How does this really show how well the public educational system is functioning?...

To Educate or Not to Educate?
Comprehensive sex education should be taught at schools nation wide. There are many consequences to students not getting all of the facts which include high pregnancy and abortion rates as well as high STD and STI numbers. There are other countries where comprehensive sex ed. is taught and their numbers on all are lower. It also breaks down what is really being taught in all inclusive sex ed. programs....
