Susan Leal from SFPUC falters into a cesspool of a series of inept decisions
Susan Leal is NO engineer but she heads the SF Public Utilities Commission and is paid over $300,000 a year plus perks. Under her ineptness, the Hetch Hetchy project that had four major pipes bringing water from Hetch Hetchy near Yosemite has been reduced to 3 pipes. We have yet to attend to the 900 miles of sewer pipes and over 1900 miles of clean water pipes - all over 70 years old and leaking, all over San Francisco. Children growing up in the neighborhood are often faced with having very few safe, open space areas in which to play. Turk-Hyde Mini-Park will help alleviate the problem by offering youth an enclosed, modern play area…” - Press release by SF Rec. & Parks Dept., 2001...

As we reported yesterday , the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing has decided to transform a long-vacant office building at 150 Otis Street into low-income housing.
