On May 22, 2007, after a year-and-a-half of organizing and mass actions, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Santa Barbara custodians declare victory, winning substantial wage increases! Also part of the equity fight, UC Irvine groundskeepers win their in-sourcing campaign! The custodian pay equity campaign helps push UC to settle additional increases for AFSCME low-wage workers statewide – marking a step toward statewide equity in our contract....

Alette was targeted as a Black woman and a central organizer of the student speak-out that took place on Oct. 18, 2006, resulting in her arrest. The Office of Doug Zuidema, Student Judicial Affairs, has now announced its intention to suspend Alette for a period of 3 years—essentially a sentence of expulsion for the third year student. Groups Protest DA's Failure To Press Charges in Eyewitnessed Rape Case of 17-Year-Old
National and state groups will protest Santa Clara District Attorney's decision not to press charges in the rape of a 17-year-old girl at an off-campus party attended by De Anza College students and athletes.
