Since 1945, various UC Berkeley faculty members have used this land as a site for research in biological control, the practice of controlling pest populations by creating a system with stable populations of natural enemies. In the past ten years the Gill Tract has, at times, been utilized as an urban farm, employing at-risk youth and providing food for local non-profits and community members. Currently, UCB faculty members use the Gill Tract for agricultural-related research....

Klamath River Tribes Appeal to European Union for Help
Representatives of the Klamath River tribes, Friends of the River and a commercial fishing group (PCFFA) are in Scotland this week to protest the dams that Scottish Power's subsidiary operates on the Klamath. Representatives will also be going to Brussels to meet with the E.U. Two local activists - Craig Tucker and Kelly Catlett of FOR - are on this trip....

The Klamath River tribes, environmental activists, recreational anglers and commercial fishermen won a big court victory this Tuesday when the Ninth Circuit Court ordered higher flows on the Trinity River. Central Valley activists played a big role in this battle, since they pressured SMUD to pull of the lawsuit, resulting in the withdrawal of three other partners to the litigation....
