Trash Orchestra to Defend Drummers from SCPD
The market drummers are being harassed by police again. In January, the community spoke and acted out to prevent our town from becoming as flavorless as Carmel. We will defend the drummers from police harassment and we will win again....

Good news for E. Palo Alto tenants
The East Palo Alto Rent Stabilization Board held an Appeal Hearing on 27 August 2008, and ruled in favor of the tenants.
More good news: during the first week of September a judge denied Page Mill Properties' request to withhold evidence from East Palo Alto, which the city needs to legally challenge rent hikes.

Some months ago the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency (SFRA) tried to help Lennar get a $25 million dollar grant from the State of California. Lennar was told to go take a hike. Neighbors and Labor Rally Against La Behemoth; Change to Zoning Law

On August 21st, 2008 labor unions, community leaders, politicians, and residents came together to protest the La Bahia Expansion. The City of Santa Cruz and the Seaside Company want to expand the La Bahia Hotel into a 74 feet tall hotel/conference center right next to the beach. This building will hurt and harm the environment, and on top of that they are trying to build the hotel with non-union workers and later staff it with non-union employees....
