Dahr Jamail: The Streets of Baghdad
We had our daily car bomb today when a suicide bomber drove his car into a US patrol as it passed near the Yarmouk police station. Several Iraqis were killed, with no report yet on US casualties. I felt the rumble even though I was on a street far away from the blast-at least 5 miles distant....

Iran's supreme leader denounces "infidel crimes" in Fallujah
TEHRAN - Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Thursday denounced what he said were crimes committed by "infidels" in the shattered Iraq city of Fallujah and called on the Muslim world to protest.
"The massacre of civilians, women and children by the thousands, the execution of wounded, the destruction of homes, mosques and other places of prayer... makes every Muslim restless," Khamenei said in a statement read out on state television....

Settlers Burn Palestinian Olive Groves
At approximately 8:00AM, Palestinians and international human rights activists attempted to enter Palestinian-owned land in Awarta, South East of Nablus, in order to harvest the olives.
Illegal settlers from Itamar Settlement are being protected by the Israeli Army as they burn an unknown number of Palestinian olive trees. Palestinians refused to sell their olives to the settlers, who then began to burn the trees in retaliation....

Men age 15-55 were not allowed to leave Fallujah
Before the recent assault on Fallujah, women, but not men ages 15-55, were allowed to leave as civilians. Media from the conflict has shown that all men killed and wounded are described as insurgents, and there is much evidence that most men encountered by soldiers were considered to be insurgents, which gave adult men no possibility of being considered in the civilian category....

“WE HAVE liberated the city of Fallujah,” crowed General John Abizaid of US Central Command last Sunday.
Fallujah, a city of 300,000 people, had been cut off from the world for six days, and subjected to a massive bombardment and invasion.
It was clear as reports started to filter out that this was not a “liberated” city but a devastated one....

Police clash with protesters outside U.S. Embassy during Greek anti-war rally
Police fired tear gas at demonstrators who hurled rocks and bottles at the U.S. Embassy in Athens on Wednesday during a rally against the war in Iraq.
Dozens of youths wearing scarves and crash helmets clashed with riot police. At least 25 were detained, police said. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
A downtown branch of Citibank was damaged by a firebomb, while protesters set fire to trash bins near the embassy. Two other Greek banks sustained damage.
