Taser Saga Continues as Chicago Teenager Suffers Near-Fatal Ventricular Fibrillation...
Apparently, the only reason the teenager survived was that he received immediate medical attention. Dr. Wayne H. Franklin, a pediatric electrophysiologist at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago (and a second doctor), claimed that an electrocardiogram confirmed that the boy did, in fact, suffer fibrillation....

Five men shot by New Orleans police
At least five people have reportedly been shot dead by police in the US city of New Orleans, where a massive effort is underway to aid hurricane survivors.
The five were part of a larger group of people crossing a bridge carrying weapons, police official WJ Riley said.
The US government earlier announced it had restored order in New Orleans, six days after Hurricane Katrina brought flood waters and anarchy to the city....

Public Hearing Wed Sept 7 will extend isolation torture - the power of a crowd is needed
The California Department of Corrections (& Rehab what a joke) has called for public comments this one day only on extending ad seg (the hole) review times from 30 days to 90 days for some offenses and even to 180 days for other offenses. It means more time in the hole and it especially punishes the mentally ill and children as they are cut off from phone calls, visits and canteen, we are talking about increased isolation torture at stake...

This is from a blog. It confirms my father's experience living in New Orleans in the mid 60s when the police are notoriously corrupt. When a new mayor came in and cracked down this corruption, the crime rate appeared to go up because citizens felt more comfortable actually calling the police when they were victimized.
