Much has been said about the political history of People's Park. People's Park is also an important piece of Land Art. Art historians and artists should speak up to preserve it. The destruction of the park by the University of California has temporarily been stopped by activists; however many trees were cut down. Legal advocates have requested a hearing, which a judge has granted. All demolition and pre-development work is legally halted until the October court hearing....

A special meeting of the Berkeley City Council is scheduled for TONIGHT, Thursday August 4 @ 8:15PM. The topic is to suspend the city's policy banning the use of chemical weapons. This proposed change of policy is in response to the People's Park protest.

CFP has completely altered their proposal and conditions for the Concord Naval Weapons Station redevelopment project. With this coercion tactic, council has to accept the terms or walk away. Pressure isn't the only thing being built. In the backdrop, a 90,000 square-foot private storage facility is being constructed on the other side of HWY-4, across from the CNWS site....
