Mohammed Allan Released - by Amnesty International
Palestinian lawyer Mohammed Allan was released on 4 November after a year of being detained without charge. The Israeli High Court had ruled in August that his detention should be suspended because his life was in danger, after 65 days on hunger strike, but the Israeli military ordered him to serve the remainder of his administrative detention order.

Tension is continuing to mount in Israel over a string of recent Palestinian stabbing attacks and an intense crackdown by the Israeli government. Since October 1, at least 58 Palestinians have been shot and killed by Israelis at the scene of attacks or during protests in the West Bank and Gaza. Israeli police say 10 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian stabbings or shootings.

Palestine: 32 Palestinian Youths Killed and 1300 Palestinians Injured Since October 1 - by Mazin Qumsiyeh
Since October 1, 2015 when Israeli racists started storming Al-Aqsa mosque compound, 32 Palestinian youth including 8 children were killed and 1300 Palestinians (one third of them children were injured). Seven Israelis were killed and dozens reported injured (none children).

Palestinian President Abbas Says PA Not Bound by Oslo Accord Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced Wednesday the Palestinian Authority was no longer bound by peace agreements with Israel that were "continually violated." This came the same day the Palestinian flag was raised in front of the United Nations for the first time. Abbas made the speech to the U.N. General Assembly.

Gaza: A life under occupation In July 2005, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon declared that Israel would withdraw from the occupied Gaza Strip. Israeli settlers living in settler-colonies in the Gaza Strip would also be forcibly removed by August 15, 2005. Ten years later, Israel, with Egypt's aid, effectively maintains an occupation of the Gaza Strip, through an absolute land siege and naval blockade.

Israel has made it a policy to ignore United Nations resolutions. The most famous one, UN Security Council Resolution 242, passed just after the Six Day War, talked of the “inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war and the need to work for a just and lasting peace in which every State in the area can live in security.” It demanded the “withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict.”

The National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies Annual Conference took place in San Francisco from April 15-18, 2015. The business meeting, open to all members, took place on Saturday evening at the close of the conference. At the business meeting, the membership gave unanimous support to the Resolution to Support the Boycott of Israeli Academic Institutions. In addition, individual FOCOS (regional caucuses) and interest group Caucuses all voted to support the resolution.
