Occupy the Farm, a film about the 2012 struggle to claim 20 acres of a historic 100 acre farm for community farmers in Albany, will open at the New Parkway theatre in Oakland on Tuesday, March 31st. The University of California owns the land and it has granted one acre to the community farmers working with the University's Department of Natural Resources. Another 5 to 7 acres has been alloted to University research on corn genetics, and the rest has been promised to a big box grocery store ...

On January 19, MLK Day 2015, the action started before dawn with a Black Lives Matter demonstration at the home of new Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf. Later in the morning, thousands gathered for a rally at the Fruitvale BART station plaza before a march to the Oakland Coliseum, near the site of the planned "Coliseum City" mega-development. Hard Knock Radio with Davey D captured the sounds of the day and interviewed participants.
