Chevron's Richmond refinery expansion will increase greenhouse gas emissions by 20% (audio/mpeg 1.8MB) - by Pacifica Evening News
Chevron's Richmond oil refinery is already the greatest emitter of greenhouse gases in the State of California. According to Richmond Planning Commissioner Marilyn Langlois, Chevron's plan for its complex refinery expansion will increase its emissions by another 20% of what they are now, but Chevron is denying that by excluding the emissions that will be produced by PraxAir, an affiliate corporation.

Chevron is attempting to buy the City of Richmond, to insure the complex refinery permit it hopes to win at Richmond's next City Council meeting, on July 29th. Andrés Soto spoke to CIUT-Toronto host Phil Taylor about Chevron's purchase orders and the environmental battles throughout the East Bay Refinery Corridor. The Richmond City Council meeting on July 29th will begin at 6:30, at 403 Civic Center Drive, Richmond, four or five blocks east of the Richmond BART station.

Richmond environmentalists ask supporters from all over the Bay Area to attend the Richmond City Council meeting at 403 Civic Center Street, several blocks east of the Richmond BART station on Tuesday, July 22nd. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm, but Andrés Soto of Communities for a Better Environment is urging people to arrive by 5:30 to get good seats and fill out speaker cards. Chevron's Richmond Refinery produces more greenhouse gases than any other corporation in California.
