text Farewell to Homo Oeconomicus - by Annika Reich and Marc Batko
The model of homo oeconomicus is antiquated and over-simplified. Dominant economic models are not based on a realistic picture of humans. In the economic model, we act as egoistic beings who are only interested in optimizing our own advantages. The model does not know different human motives that could be differently activated depending on the context.

Black Monday is how economists are describing Monday’s market turmoil, which saw stock prices tumble across the globe, from China to Europe to the United States. China’s stock indices fell over 8 percent on Monday and another 7 percent today. On Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average initially fell a record 1,100 points before closing down nearly 600 points. The decline also caused oil prices to plunge to their lowest levels in almost six years.

Germany is really the single best example of a country that, throughout its history, has never repaid its external debt. Neither after the First nor the Second World War. However, it has frequently made other nations pay up, such as after the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, when it demanded massive reparations from France and indeed received them. The Fre...

text White Privilege in the Animal Rights Movement - by via Animal Liberation Press Office
If animal liberation is to succeed, the movement must address the concerns of oppressed humans as well as non-humans. Human oppression cannot be co-opted or ignored, and it certainly cannot be pushed aside within a movement that is supposed to be based on compassion and care for all animals.
