The TPP is out (for the moment, anyway) and Trump is in. How can we protect our planet?

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Event Type:

1187 Franklin St. (Corner Geary Blvd.) San Francisco

San Francisco Progressive Democrats of America (PDA-SF)
presents a special Human Rights Day program:

After years of organizing and lobbying by thousands of citizen activists, the TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership) has been blocked during the current legislative session. But now Donald Trump is about to become President, and those who worked to defeat the TPP are concerned that it may be revived, in a different form, under the new administration. Equally worrisome are the policies and initiatives likely to emerge from Trump’s presidency that may threaten the environment, civil liberties, and even our right to protest.

This program takes place just before December 10, the day when we commemorate the United Nations’ 1948 adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Inspired by this theme, three leading Bay Area activist-scholars will address how we can protect our planet, civil liberties and human rights over the coming four years and into the future.

Panelists:
Douglas Norlen: Senior Program Manager, Economic Policy Program, Friends of the Earth
Shahid Buttar: Director of Grassroots Advocacy, Electronic Frontier Foundation
Aaron Lehmer-Chang: California Director, Citizens Trade Campaign

PLEASE NOTE: A PDA business meeting will take place before the forum, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. The meeting is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.
