Puerto Rico: Colonialism and the Debt Crisis

Friday, Oct. 14, 7pm
2969 Mission St., SF

In the 1890s, having subdued the Native American peoples through a century of genocide, the United States capitalist class embarked upon an equally ruthless campaign of overseas expansion. In the process, the U.S killed hundreds of thousands and inaugurated the globe-spanning imperial leviathan we know today. Puerto Rico was one of many territories colonized by the U.S. during this period, and it has reaped the rewards of poverty and repression ever since.

Join us to learn about the history of Yankee colonialism, the colonial roots of Puerto Rico's ongoing debt crisis, and the heroic resistance of the Puerto Rican people.

Puerto Rico: Colonialismo y la Crisis de la Deuda

viernes, 14 de octubre, 7pm
2969 Calle Mission, SF
