The period following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rise to power in May 2014 has witnessed unprecedented attacks on civil and democratic rights, student movements, anti-caste struggles, women liberation struggles, but most significantly working class movements. The Revolutionary Left must answer the challenges posed by the saffron surge if it hopes to counter this resistible rise of Fascism.

Abhinav Sinha is the editor of Mazdoor Bigul, a workers' monthly publication, editor of Aahwan, a students' magazine, and a writer for Red Polemique blog (www.redpolemique.wordpress.com). He is a labor activist in New Delhi, and a research scholar at Delhi University.
