What: Marin County Board of Supervisors Public Meeting
When: Tuesday February 9th, 1:30 p.m.
Where: Marin County Board of Supervisors Chambers,
Administration Building, Room 330,
501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael, CA 94903
It is crucial that the Board of Supervisors understand what “Just Cause” eviction protections provide for the community:
1) Limits ability of landlords to evict existing renters.
While landlords retain full property control, Just Cause would prevent them from evicting tenants without reason.
2) Protects tenants who have month-to-month leases.
Just Cause protects those tenants who have month-to-month leases from being evicted by landlords for the sole purpose of increasing rents. Tenants who sign short-term leases are often low-income and working families with little or no job security, so just cause would be critical for stabilizing this population.
3) Stabilizes communities.
By slowing down evictions and decreasing turnover rates in an area, communities become more stable. This is particularly important in expensive housing markets. Just cause would increase personal and community stability.
4) Security of Tenure.
With an increase of stability will come an increase of safety and security.
5) Protects Families.
"Just Cause" eviction protections protects families, including children, and the elderly from being dumped on to the streets of Marin County for no good reason by greedy landlords!
6) Protects Communities
"Just Cause" eviction protections offer stability to school teachers, construction workers, city employees, and many other workers who provide the many services that are needed in Marin County.
Contact the Board of Supervisors of Marin County!
Tell them why strong renter protections are needed including rent control, and "Just Cause" eviction protections!
