Tense Meeting on Minimum Wage in Mountain View Ends in Victory
A tense meeting in Mountain View city council chambers ended in victory for workers yesterday. The decision to raise the minimum wage came after contentious appeals from restaurant owners who wanted exceptions that would allow them to pay less than minimum wage to those earning tips and to teenagers.

Rallying workers, red-shirted WWOC members, and Raging Grannies shouted outside of City Hall ahead of yesterday's meeting. They raised the spirits of those who went inside to make their case. Demonstrators shouted "Fifteen by 2018!"
City Council members voted 5-2 vote to a staggered plan to raise the minimum wage to $15 by 2018. They ruled against the exclusions requested by restaurant owners.
