Announcement from UNITE HERE Local 483:

After many months of discussion and actions, employees in the restaurant and cafe at the Monterey Bay Aquarium vote to ratify a new agreement with their employer S.S.A. who took over the operation of the Aquarium Food services in February 2015.

Workers voted 92% YES to the union contract on September 9, after many months of discussions and actions, and will now be represented by UNITE HERE Local 483.

The new 4-year agreement includes BACK-PAY since April 2015, Wage Hikes of +$2.00 an hour over the contract term, lowers medical insurance co-pay costs for workers, and improves paid vacations, holidays, and sick leave!

"The Union works because we do. It was a great job by all my co-workers" -Cynthia Corres, a 10 year cashier/barista
