This is an acclaimed 2010 documentary by Enrico Parenti on the hundreds of U.S. bases around the world, the rationale for these bases and the impact on the local populations. This is an appropriate film for remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki August 6 and 9 and looking more deeply into why the U.S. "needs" to expand this global network of bases, which in turn inevitably increases our unquestioned military budget. Discussion will follow the film.

Sponsored by the BFUU Social Justice Ctee as part of our Conscientious Projector series.
