I Cry No Tears For The Dead Pig Butchy Baker
by Steven Argue
Santa Cruz Police Officer Butchy Baker was shot and killed a couple years ago. It is time for me to break my silence on the shooting of Butchy Baker. I cannot lie, his death brought me great pleasure and I'm only sad that more cops like him are not dead. Butchy Baker was a cop who used his position of power to rape a large number of women. Likewise, he harassed me constantly for being a political person opposed to the Santa Cruz establishment. Arrests by him against me included him bringing me to jail for j-walking and waiting outside of a pub Halloween night and arresting me for drunk in public after having three beers. Those charges were dropped because tests showed I was not drunk. Yet, the corporate newspapers ran articles the next day about me, as a city council candidate, being arrested on charges of drunk in public. This was simply a pre-planned means of trying to discredit my campaign for city council. Those corporate rags published the police lies without question and never published a single correction or apology when the charges were dropped.
While under arrest in the cop car, Butchy Baker falsely claimed my politics had nothing to do with me being arrested. He even went so so far as to claim he supported my political platform because if I fired the chief of police, he would be in line for a promotion. I kept it real and told him he would be fired as well. The man who killed Butchy Baker was allegedly a peeping tom. That's not good, but certainly not as bad as Butchy Baker's record of abusing power and raping women. I boycott all businesses that put up placards calling Butchy Baker a hero.
When I ran for city council the corporate San Jose Mercury News said I was "an unrepentant socialist and cop puncher." I thought this a good endorsement. Part of what they were referring to is me beating up Officer David LaFavor when he violently attacked a demonstration against the U.S. bombing of Yugoslavia. He dragged a screaming woman in front of me who was holding a small child. He was twisting her arm so badly that it turned purple and she was screaming in pain. Her child was screaming "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!". Being raised on Malcolm X's philosophy of self-defense, I, as a strong man, was not going to just stand aside as a cop brutalized a mother holding a small child. I punched the cop, allowing the woman and child to escape.
The city government's own so-called Citizen's Police Review Board reviewed the case and found that excessive force was used against the mother that endangered the child. I still served a nine month sentence, the majority of which was in solitary confinement. In my cell I wrote and what I was writing was getting published on the outside. Jail guards then started threatening me about my writing. I refused to stop. Guards then handcuffed me and beat me, pounding my head against a cement wall and twisting my wrist so bad that hat I couldn't write for many months after. In solitary, I lived in total fear, thinking that every approaching guard could be coming to beat me or kill me, every morsel of food could be poisoned. I hate cops. I even hate people who like cops.
Those who rule America are criminals. Their cops are their evil minions. I have never made any secret of the fact that come the revolution, it is my desire to line up the cops and shoot them. Butchy Baker? He got what he deserved, may he rot in hell.
