National Scholarly Research ~ Historic Stockton Waterfront District

by khubaka, michael harris
Historic Stockton Waterfront District builds on an amazing legacy 1840-1870. 2015 Stockton Black History Month ends with new primary source documents towards sharing a historic legacy unknown, unvalued or to be kept underground. The Ebony Boat Club is a welcomed maritime resource and recreational opportunity to join a growing collaboration of City, County, State and National officials eager to highlight the positive contribution by people of African ancestry. In context of a national conversation we target 1840 - 1870 to focus Sesquicentennial Black Heritage Tours in context of the California Gold Rush, Emancipation and Reconstruction of the United States of America.

The City of Stockton is officially out of bankruptcy and now is the time to highlight the proposed area to consider establishing a National Historic Park within the Historic Stockton Waterfront District. The context, theme, research and scholarly research builds on the amazing national legacy of both Rev. Jeremiah King and Rev. Jeremiah Burke Sanderson.

The City of Stockton is named after Commodore Robert Field Stockton, first Military Governor for Alta California, his grandfather, John Stockton, donated land to create Princton University, New Jersey, his father Richard Stockton was one of 56 to sign the United States Declaration of Independence.

In 1846, the Historic Stockton Waterfront District began as an amazing regional transportation hub. During the California Gold Rush, the City of Stockton was formally established, July 9, 1850 and after the US Civil War, Stockton remained a major intermodal transportation hub for today's "greatest garden in the world."

A rebirth in the heart of the California Central Valley looks to our preserve our golden historical legacy and build a new generation of innovation through exceptional science and technology.

The signifigant contributions by Stockton residents of African ancestry (1840-1875) helped to postively impacted the region, state, nation and the world. Once a beacon for high culture and educational excellence, today we are prepared to build on a strong foundation.

Rev. Jeremiah King and Rev. Jeremiah Burke Sanderson helped create a vibrant, fertile community, an amazing mosaic in partnership Capt. Charles Weber, including diverse members of the broader City of Stockton pioneer families who lived together in the Stockton Waterfront District.

The City of Stockton is named after Commodore Robert Field Stockton, first US Military Governor for Alta Californi, his father Richard Stockton was an original signer to the United States Declaration of Independence.

Nationwide, bits and pieces of an amazing mosaic tapestry are being woven towards the compiling the essential elements that quantify, with primary source documents, the salient contributions featuring people of African ancestry in the Historic Stockton Waterfront District .

Our story, part of a profound and exceptional Underground Railroad and California Gold Rush tradition, is part of the diverse early residents of the City of Stockton whose ongoing impacts are felt throughout the United States of America and world.

Our Sesquicentennial Black Heritage Tour will target global cultural toursm and national preservation experts to the heart of the California Central Valley, together we will showcase the authentic California Black 49ers and the global reach of the pioneers who helped make California the Golden engine of the United States of America.
