Influenced by funky psychedelic tropical sounds and the warm California
vibes, a group of friends came together in 2011 to begin their journey with
their band called QUITAPENAS.
They incorporate traditional Afro-Latin rhythms with modern
instruments to create their own interpretation of 60's, 70's, and 80's
world dance music.

Translating to "take away your worries,” QUITAPENAS tells stories and gets
people dancing.

This group focuses on a message of community, the beauty of the world that
surrounds us, personal experiences, and social injustices. With
polyrhythmic beats and playful melodies that are refreshing yet nostalgic,
QUITAPENAS brings a transcendent energy that takes us to an island full of
coconut and papayas.
