Christine J. Hong a professor at UCSC and board member of the Korea Policy Institute reports on the history of Je Ju island and the growing militarization of Korea and Japan. She also discusses the role of the United States in pushing militarization of Asia. This presentation was made in Santa Cruz, California at a forum on Fukushima and the militarization of Asia that was held on January 22, 2015.

The US government with the support of both the Democrats and Republicans is pushing for the militarization of Asia. President Obama is a leading US militarist demanding that Japan change it's anti-war constitution and that Korea build the Je Ju base for US military operations to encircle China.
