Time For US Government To Sponsor An End To Junk Mail

by Reforestation Alliance
US taxpayers have subsidized with hundreds of billions of dollars the junk mail ad industry whose absurdly low rates allow them to clog landfills, kill trillions of trees, cause global heating, and violate citizen privacy.

In the U.S. the government has a 'do not call' website http://donotcall.gov Those who do not want telemarketer phone calls register their numbers. It is then against the law for telemarketers to continue to bother those registered. It is time for a do not send, a donotsend.gov website

The people of the US through our postal rates are subsidizing the deforestation, landfill clogging, global heating, and invasion of the sovereignty of people's mailboxes through junk mail. It is difficult to get off of the lists. The Direct Marketing Association, Redplum, and other mailers must be contacted directly. It is not yet enough simply to notify the Post Office.

2014 was the hottest year on record since temperature recording began in 1880. 9 of the 10 hottest years have occurred since 2000. Junk mailers, newspaper and magazine publishers, toilet paper manufacturers, lumber companies, builders using wood, etc. etc. are all contributing to the heating up of the world.

Each day more and more corporations bow to the need to preserve the remaining
trees of the world, many because of the soaring cost of newsprint. White page
phone directories are no longer published in many areas. Newspapers are going out of business or to a fraction of the 7 days a week while many magazines are going
to quarterly or every other month.

If you want to reduce the global heating which causes
115 to 135 degree summers and 36 below winters, help stop the killing of trees, the destruction of animal habitat, and the killing
by smashing of the flightless baby birds and squirrels living in them,
please inform the Direct Marketing Association based in Windsor Connecticut.

Some post offices will continue to ignore your request if the mail
is addressed to occupant, resident or boxholder.
Your tax dollars have been subsidizing junk mail by the tens of
billions of dollars for many years.

In addition, the US postal system is not sufficiently recycling
mail thrown into their wastebaskets, nor are they in many
outlets offering recycled envelopes, boxes.
