Let Your Voice Be Heard

The Bearcat Battle is not over! We need EVERYONE'S support if we are to win this war against the Homeland Security/DOD driven progressive militarization of our police force. Santa Cruz Food Not Bombs, Code Pink and the ACLU among others have joined the coalition of community members who are pledged to continue this fight. Please make sure that all your friends and allies sign this Petition. Abbi, Keith and all those who will be representing us in the continuing negotiations with the City and Mayor Lane need to have the power of the entire community behind them. We have over 1000 citizens who have stood up and said "No". 2000 would be a powerful statement.

if the bearcat is approved. there are a number of totally nonviolent and legal steps to build effective opposition. hopefully the city will exercise common sense so these won't have to be acted on...

We don't need a petition. We need information to leverage against the security state. Shining a light on this can help build community and media support to shut it down.

We must connect the Santa Cruz BEARCAT to cities gaining these armored assault vehicles across California. The records are available using the California Public Records Act (CPRA) and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). We must show how the Santa Cruz BEARCAT is part of a national and even international campaign by the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense. It's no accident these kinds of vehicles are being used against protesters in Ferguson, Missouri and in the Arab Spring. Connect the dots . . .to make Santa Cruz Ground Zero for stopping police militarization.
