Kwanzaa is our “California Grown” holiday showcase of the “first fruits of the harvest” continuing ancient traditions from the broader Pan African sacred science of agriculture.

Friends in Jesus International Church joins millions of people around the world in the spirit of Umoja, unity, with the founder of Kwanzaa, Dr. Maulana Karenga and begin the 48th holiday celebration of Kwanzaa.

Many people privately identify and celebrate Kwanzaa, others join with family and friends at home and still others are seen in very lively annual public community activities that display the vast diversity of the Pan African experience. Our California Black Agricultural Working Group continue an amazing tradition throughout “the greatest garden of the world” our California Central Valley, leading a complete restoration of Agriculture as the foundation of our culture.

A few dedicated scholars are preparing for the Sesquicentennial Celebration of the official beginning of the end of chattel slavery in the United States of America, ratification of the 13th Amendment to our US Constitution while we are challenged with an epidemic escalation of the Ebola virus, causing unspoken destruction throughout West Africa, a renewed Maafa.

Sacramento Friends in Jesus International ~ “The African Church” has provided unwavering faith and courage leading the serious work to arrest the widespread challenge of Ebola. From the California State Capitol, the notion of Umoja, will take on new meaning this 48th Season of Kwanzaa. The ongoing need for expanded California ~ Pan African exchange is magnified by the emergency response, however the need does not go away without ongoing persistence.

Interfaith, Inter generational and International appeal this 2014 Kwanzaa, we will demonstrate a renewed effort to showcase for future generations the great expectation and civic responsibility people of African ancestry have demonstrated throughout the history of California.

In the spirit of Umoja, we give a portion of our first fruits of the harvest, in a good way. We extend the hand of fellowship, building on the golden promise of the California Dream, and do our part to expand efforts toward mutually beneficial California ~ Pan African exchange in harmony with a broader, year-round tangible expression of the symbols and principles of Kwanzaa.

Throughout the State of California and the world, Kwanzaa is a special time of year...
