How much violence does the U.S. Secret Service inflict on the public and on journalists?

by John Cohen-Colby (john.roncohen.colby [at] gmail.com)
I want to hold the U.S. Secret Service accountable for not only its recent assault and battery upon journalist Alex Darocy, but for all its violence against the public on American soil. An objective witness validated Darocy's account. I plan on opening a DHS OIG complaint about this and lobbying the U.S. Senate — where there is already bipartisan support for reforming the Secret Service — to hold the U.S. Secret Service accountable for violence against civilians and journalists on American soil.

The recent assault and battery upon independent journalist Alex Darocy by a U.S. Secret Service agent at the Leon Panetta book promotion talk at Peace United Church prompted me to submit a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the U.S. Secret Service about acts of violence they perpetrate upon civilians and journalists on American soil. An independent witness verified to me that Darocy was assaulted without warning. They verified the details of his account. I plan on filing a complaint with the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General (DHS OIG) as well as lobbying the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations to launch a U.S. Senate investigation into unwarranted violence by the U.S. Secret Service against private citizens and journalists (on American soil).

We must hold them accountable or they will continue to abuse the public and our journalists. This was an abuse of power under color of law: it was a criminal assault. The responsible U.S. Secret Service agent must be fired and prosecuted for an assault and battery under color of law against a journalist legitimately covering a news event.

After independent journalist Alex Darocy was assaulted by a U.S. Secret Service agent under color of law and an objective witness validated his account, I submitted this FOIA request to prepare for a DHS OIG complaint and a request to the U.S. Senate to open a Congressional investigation into the U.S. Secret Service unduly attacking private citizens and journalists.

The U.S. Secret Service did not automatically grant my request for a fee waiver, suggesting they will try to make completing my request too expensive for me to pursue. They seem to be preparing for a cover-up.
