Part of nationwide protests against racist killings by police, more than a hundred students marched through the cities of Mountain View and Los Altos, California on December 10.
Part of nationwide protests against racist killings by police, more than a hundred students marched through the cities of Mountain View and Los Altos, California on International Human Rights Day, December 10. As the sun started to set, they rallied in Mountain View's Eagle Park where they crowded around surprise visitors, the Raging Grannies, who held signs saying "We Stand With You".
Emcee Kiyoshi Taylor, a senior at Los Altos High School, kept the program rolling. He introduced keynote speakers and Oscar Martinez, aka Ostatz, who performed an anti-racism rap.
Teenage speakers called the grand juries' verdicts in the recent Ferguson and New York City cases shocking, and said racist police must be stopped at all costs. They said the worst thing they could do after cases like Michael Brown's and Eric Garner's would be to ignore the injustice and to remain silent.
