Indigenous Resistance at Black Mesa:
8th annual Santa Cruz benefit event

Doors open @ 6pm. Light snacks & refreshments will be offered.
$5-20 no one turned away — A benefit for Black Mesa families resisting relocation.

SPEAKERS:
* Danny Blackgoat— Traveling from Black Mesa (AZ) to speak in Santa Cruz, Danny will share updates and messages from the land along with personal reflections from his lifetime of involvement with the struggle of his family & community against forced relocation and coal strip mining.

* Ann Marie Sayers— Mutsun Ohlone community leader Ann Marie Sayers will speak about issues of importance to contemporary Ohlone people, and the recent victory against fracking in San Benito County. The Ohlone are the indigenous people of the Monterey & SF Bay areas.

+ Short film: Pauline Whitesinger/Ancient Voices— A 2007 statement from elder Pauline Whitesinger, translated by Danny Blackgoat.

The evening will be dedicated to honoring the memory of Pauline Whitesinger, resistance leader and elder matriarch of Big Mountain, 1929—2014

Supply and tool donations for the local Fall Caravan to Black Mesa (departing November 20th may be dropped off during this event.

Supply wishlist: tools (axes, mauls, shovels, hammers, etc), building supplies, chainsaws, wool blankets, quality non-perishable food, video & still cameras, laptop computers.

Anyone is also welcome to bring things for the Pauline Whitesinger memoir table we'll have at the event.
