Sabotaging P5+1 Talks

Sabotaging P5+1 Talks

by Stephen Lendman

They've been ongoing interminably. Reaching a November 2013 interim agreement. Longstanding US/Israeli hardline policy remains unchanged.

Sanctions Iran wants removed remain in place. New ones were irresponsibly imposed.

By Washington earlier. Unilaterally. By executive order. Circumventing Congress. Violating Geneva's letter and sprit.

EU countries just adding their own. Against Iranian companies and individuals. Showing no interest in resolving things responsibly.

Tehran's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham saying:

"Under the conditions that the nuclear negotiations are proceeding and the negotiating sides are trying to reach an acceptable agreement, the EU move is questionable and against the trend of the talks and the undertakings of the two sides."

Iran's embassy expressed outrage. Saying new sanctions violate interim agreement terms.

In October, Iranian President Hassan Rohani resolved to continue constructive dialogue. Regardless of Western policy.

Narrowing down remaining differences. Perhaps trying to achieve the impossible.

At the same time, never compromising Iran's legitimate interests. Including its peaceful nuclear program.

Claims otherwise are Big Lies. Red herring cover for longstanding US sought regime change.

For pro-Western stooge governance. Eliminating sovereign Iranian independence.

America never negotiates in good faith. It's all take and no give. It's word isn't its bond. Duplicity defines its agenda. More than ever now.

Its deals aren't worth the paper they're written on. Obama's soft rhetoric reflects deception. Concealing longstanding bipartisan hardline anti-Iranian policy.

AIPAC exerts enormous influence in Washington. Especially on Congress. Maliciously, willfully and wrongfully calling Iran "the world's leading state sponsor of terror…"

"Racing toward a nuclear weapons capability." Supporting "terrorists" attacking "American troops and Israeli civilians."

Demanding Washington "unabashedly seek to prevent Iran from achieving a nuclear weapons capability."

Calling a nuclear-armed Iran "an existential threat to Israel and would arm the world's leading sponsor of terrorism with the ultimate weapon."

Israel is the region's only nuclearized state. Using banned radiological, chemical and biological weapons in all its wars.

America and Israel are the world's leading state terrorism sponsors. No other nations approach their ruthlessness.

Contempt for rule of law principles. Scorn for democratic values. Abhorrence of peace, stability, civil and human rights.

Don't expect AIPAC to explain. Or other Zionist organizations. Or neocons infesting Washington. Or Obama leading them.

Sabotaging P5+1 talks is prioritized. Iran got little in return for major concessions. An agreed on July 20 deadline was extended to November 24. It fast approaches.

Obama ludicrously claims "gaps between (both) sides (remain) wide." On CBS' Face the Nation Sunday, he addressed US/Iranian relations.

Saying top priority is preventing Tehran from developing nuclear weapons. Knowing no such program exists.

Adding remaining issues may not be resolved before November 24. "There's still a big gap. We may not be able to get there," he said.

Accusing Iran irresponsibly of "creating unrest and sponsoring terrorism in the region, around the world, their anti-Israeli rhetoric and behavior so that's a whole another set of issues…"

Preventing normalized US/Tehran relations. Suggesting ending decades of mistrust remains distant. Engaging Iran responsibly won't happen.

Especially with Republicans controlling Congress. Israeli Lobby power. Washington's bipartisan regime change agenda.

Issued raised about Iran's nuclear program are subterfuge. On Sunday, John Kerry, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Zarif and chief EU negotiator Catherine Ashton met in Oman.

Talks continued on Monday. Reports suggested Kerry and Ashton presented a permanent resolution proposal. Focusing on three issues.

1. Uranian enrichment facilities remaining in Iran. Especially number and types of centrifuges Tehran will be allowed to keep.

Washington wants 4 - 5,000 max. Tehran has 19,000. Refusing to abandon its legitimate rights. Nor should it.

2. Timetable for lifting all sanctions. Iran wants them immediately removed. As soon as possible. Without delay. Lawlessly imposed in the first place.

Eliminating them is fundamental. Washington wants slow-motion termination. Taking years.

Red herring cover for maintaining them longterm. Sabotaging responsible conflict resolution.

3. Agreement duration. Its expiration date. Washington wants enforcement up to 15 years.

Slow-motion removal under close supervision. Pretext for continuing them longterm. Interminably.

Iran wants them eliminated entirely within five to seven years. As talks began Sunday, Netanyahu remained hardline.

He lied saying "(t)he international community now faces a simple choice, of either yielding to Iran's demands in a capitulation that endangers not only Israel but the entire world, or of standing firm in the demand that Iran disarm its capabilities for producing nuclear weapons."

"Israel will not accept a capitulation. It's dangerous for all of us." Iran threatens no one. It prioritizes regional cooperation, peace and stability.

Israel menaces humanity. An existential threat writ large. Nuclear armed and dangerous.

In his 1997 book, "Open Secrets: Israeli Nuclear and Foreign Policies," Israel Shahak said:

"Israel (is) clearly prepar(ing) itself to seek overtly a hegemony over the entire Middle East…"

With no "hesitati(on) to use for (its) purpose all means available, including nuclear ones."

Its longstanding military doctrine dictates a nuclear response to so-called "nonconventional" attacks.

Including missiles. With explosives, toxic elements or other substances. Claiming capability to take down the world before letting itself go under.

In other words, use nuclear weapons preemptively. At the same time, prohibiting other regional states from acquiring them.

Double standard hypocrisy writ large. Rogue states operate this way.

It bears repeating. Iran threatens no one. Its nuclear program is peaceful. No evidence suggests otherwise.

Israel is a major existential threat. P5-1 countries should demand its nuclear, chemical and biological arsenals be eliminated.

Mentioning them is verboten. Nothing whatever is done to remove the region's main threat. Along with America's presence.

Iran represents an independent stabilizing force. Why regime change is prioritized.

To remove a US/Israeli rival. Freeing their hegemonic ambitions. Threatening world peace.

Western policymakers never explain. Media scoundrels regurgitate official Big Lies.

Hard truths are systematically buried. Iran unjustifiably remains regional public enemy number one.

Anti-Iranian congressional elements ally with AIPAC. Going all-out to sabotage resolving things responsibly.

Obama doing nothing to stop them. Going along to get along remains official administration policy.

Doubling America's combat troop strength in Iraq. To over 3,000. Masquerading as advisors.

Telling Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer "as commander-in-chief, I'm never going to say never." In response to being asked if additional deployments are planned.

Intending escalated regional aggression. Requesting updated congressional Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) to do so.

Maintaining Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas as regional bad guys. Implementing anything goes policies against them.

Without Security Council or congressional authorization. Operating unconstitutionally.

Claiming "(t)he world needs to know we are united" against designated bad guys. "(T)hat the men and women of our military deserve our clear and unified support."

Naked aggression is OK. Wars without end don't matter. Nor mass slaughter and destruction. Washington rules alone apply.

What we say goes is official policy. Russia and China remain the last united line of defense against hegemonic US rampaging.

Both countries want peace, not war. US-led NATO threatens world peace. A global missile. A dagger at humanity's heart.

Encroaching on Sino/Russian borders. Threatening potential armageddon. America's nuclear, chemical, and biowarfare agenda is longstanding.

Stepped up development is prioritized. Nuclear disarmament spurned. So were Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) provisions.

The 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty (ABM) was abandoned. Expressly banning development, testing and deployment of missile defenses. Doing so interferes with Washington's offensive plans.

Refusing to adopt proposed Fissile Material Cutoff Treaty (FMCT) provisions. Prohibiting further weapons-grade uranium and plutonium production. Forbidding adding new nuclear weapons to present stockpiles.

America spends more on military readiness than all other countries combined. Including enormous congressional appropriations, outsized black budgets, others off the books, secret programs, huge amounts for intelligence, and other unknown initiatives.

Longstanding US policy calls for preventive, preemptive, and/or proactive wars. Global targets are involved.

First-strike chemical, biological and nuclear weapons are planned. Anticipatory self-defense justifies doing so.

Washington rescinded the 1972 Biological Weapons Convention. Subverting its provisions preceded doing it.

Enhancing America's offensive capability matters most. Doing so prepares for global war.

At issue is seeking unchallenged dominance. Anything goes is policy. Achieving it's prioritized.

Potentially risking life on earth. Advancing Washington's imperium matters more. America has hugely destructive chemical, biological, nuclear and other arsenals.

Secret research and development programs upgrade them. Enormous amounts spent doing so. Classified budgets conceal how much.

Hundreds of private bio-labs operate nationwide. Fort Detrick, Lawrence Livermore, and other government facilities operate secretly. Research prioritizes offense, not defense.

Germ warfare once was science fiction fantasy. Today it's grim reality. So is potential WMD denouement.

Permanent war is official US policy. Risking mass annihilation. Humanity more than ever is threatened

It bears repeating. Russia and China represent its last line of defense. Hopefully they're up to the challenge.
