Chicano Batman performs a benefit concert at Oakland's New Parish benefiting Oakland's Social Justice Collaborative. Concert proceeds will go directly towards providing legal services for unaccompanied minors in Oakland. The concert also features Chhoti Maa and La Pelanga DJ's.

CHICANO BATMAN

LA Weekly describes Chicano Batman's music ensemble as: "Fusionists whose sabor simmers with cumbia, Mexican ballads, Brazilian tropicalia, Jimi Hendrix, Santana and Cream."

Why Batman? Lead vocalist, Bardo Martinez, explains simply: "Every one of us is a super hero. This is a working-class band for working-class people." A sustainable mission for Chicano Batman is supporting political advocacy and fostering social justice with concerts benefitting worthy causes.

SOCIAL JUSTICE COLLABORATIVE

Oakland-based non-profit Social Justice Collaborative (SJC) is one of the leading providers of immigration defense for low-income non-citizens, including programs for refugees, victims of violence, and family unity. SJC has played a critical role in defending the interests and needs of many unaccompanied minors that have settled in the East Bay, fleeing the violence, persecution or death in their home lands. With an influx of more than 200 minors in 2014, SJC is deeply involved in work at the Oakland Unified School District.
