9/1 SF Bus Fares Increase; 11/4 No on Prop E

by Obese SF Voter
On 9/1/14, 2 months before election day, the Democratic Party machine of San Francisco raises bus fares, instead of waiting until after the election, while they promote a regressive tax, the soda pop tax, for their slush fund. The utter bankruptcy of the Democratic-Republican Party machine of San Francisco is very clear.

The utter bankruptcy of the Democratic-Republican Party machine of San Francisco is very clear.

SF Muni Bus Fares on 9/1/14 will be $2.25 per ride for adults, the Adult A Pass with BART in San Francisco, $80; Adult M Pass Muni Only, $68, Lifeline Low Income $34; School Coupon booklet $15. Other fare increases are scheduled for Fiscal Year 2016. See

This is all to pay for the Central Subway boondoggle, as the Civil Grand Jury more fully explains in its condemnation of this 1.7 mile project from South of Market to Washington and Stockton at

It used to be that bus fares were not increased until after election day, but the pretense of being concerned about votes is gone with the San Francisco Democratic-Republican Party that has been sitting at City Hall since the 1960s.

Nobody's wages go up, but we have bus fare increases, rent increases, astronomical medical costs in this backward country that still does not have socialized medicine as does the rest of the industrialized world, and now the San Francisco Democratic Party is promoting a regressive tax on the workingclass, a soda pop tax, by means of scapegoating obese people, for a slush fund for all kinds of projects, real and imagined, mostly the latter. This is known as Proposition E, more fully described at

We have a long ballot for November 4, 2014 as it is the governor's general election. See
http://www.sfgov2.org/index.aspx?page=4414

You can still register to vote for the 11/4/14 election. The one party that always opposes regressive sales taxes is Peace & Freedom Party. So far, the San Francisco Green Party has not endorsed any position on Proposition E. The Green Party is also generally a good party, but sometimes it endorses these rackets. You can register online at:

Please also sign up for a permanent vote-by-mail ballot so you never forget to vote and you can vote in the comfort of your home any of the 30 days before election day.

Please do vote your conscience and send a clear message to the San Francisco Democratic-Republican Party that anything other than taxing the rich with the progressive income tax is not acceptable. The above cited fares are not affordable. Charging $34 to low income people for a monthly pass is unconscionable. It should be free to low income people and to all school children, regardless of ability to pay. Any pass that is more than $20 a month is outrageous. Public transportation should be free. We have 750,000 millionaire households in California, 18 billionaires in San Francisco, and a federal military budget that is a bottomless cookie jar to enrich the oil and munitions companies instead of transferring the entire military budget to all social services, including public transportation.

We NEVER want anything to do with any kind of tax on soda pop, which will certainly be followed by taxing really fattening food like hamburgers, milk shakes, French fries and pastries. These are all regressive taxes on the workingclass by definition, the very people the Board of Stupidvisors, all Democrats, claim to be helping. Obesity is an issue addressed in physical education classes with nutrition and exercise programs, and changing the school education system is a matter for the SF School Board. San Francisco always passes all school bonds, and we have state and federal school funding as well. In addition, California has a state surplus, which can be tapped if needed. This is clearly another slush fund racket.
