A labor journalist who writes from a fundamental commitment to the labor movement, Steve Early draws on forty years of personal experience for his new writing collection, Save Our Unions. The book visits strikes and picket-lines, conventions and funerals – all in the course of describing the challenges American workers face trying to organize a union, or democratize one, or negotiate a contract – while trying not to lose what they had in the past.
Ranging through strategies for organizing, health care reform, cross-border union campaigning, or politics less dependent on the Democratic Party, Early continually raises the question of what labor can do and should do in 2014.

Sponsored by Progressive Democrats of America San Francisco and Unitarian Universalists for Peace & Justice San Francisco
