June 2014 Corporate Hack Attack On A Northern California Community

The Frac King vs The Right To Vote; facism vs community rights.

Counties and citizens fighting the Frac King in Northern California are few, but we are seasoned community activists of decades. North State communities have large networks of actively involved, astute and knowledgeable citizens that can be called upon and once engaged, they work pretty well together and large democratic shifts in the politics that currently impact rather than protect daily life, become inevitable. Here is one such group, actually a coalition of groups and locals in Butte County. Read their engaging story.

On June 1st the all-volunteer group, Frack-Free Butte County, successfully raised the 10,000 signatures needed to secure a citizen initiative to ban fracking on the ballot this November.

Last week, a law-firm hired by Californians for a Safe, Secure Energy Future – a group funded by the oil & gas industry – challenged their petition on the superficial grounds that certain sentences were not in bold-font and the word "enacts" was used instead of "ordained" and their initiative was rejected.

They have THREE DAYS (06.24.2014) left of their Indiegogo campaign, so please donate as soon as you can. Let’s send a strong message that we will not let the will of the people go unheard!

This is the classic example of the will of the people being crushed by the money of the fossil-fuel industry, and they are determined to put their initiative back on the ballot! However, this will cost thousands of dollars to hire an attorney and counter the onslaught of oil industry money pouring into Butte County and they need a strong coalition of people like you to donate to their campaign.

(ed) Butte County is taking a leadership stand for all the inland North State counties - the north state gas fields extend from Sacramento through the counties of Butte, Tehama and Glen, Colusa (west) to Lake County and have nothing to do with the 'Monterey Shale'. These are 'Gaslands', tight sand formations.

The north coast is fighting gas well fracking in Humboldt County Eel River Basin (tight sands, Franciscan shale) and a Community Rights Ordinance to Ban Fracking is headed to the Mendocino County Elections Department in Ukiah, CA today at 1:oo pm.
