Don't work for IBM, Infosys, or Manpower. They discriminate against American workers in favor of guest workers.

Three tech advocacy groups, Bright Future Jobs, Programmers Guild, and Washtech announced a professional labor boycott against Manpower, IBM and Infosys stemming from a pattern and practice of excluding U.S. workers from job openings on U.S soil. Indian tech advocacy group NOSTOPS is supporting. The boycott will continue until these companies demonstrate employment practices that follow EEO laws prohibiting race, gender, age and national origin discrimination.

IBM

In 2012, IBM was caught red-handed for requiring "Indian work authorization" for a job in Boise, Idaho. This ad not only appeared on Monster.com, a U.S. web site, but also appeared on IBM's own job site.

IBM spokesman Doug Shelton explained the purpose for excluding Americans for a job opening on U.S. soil, stating, "IBM provides 'fast track' training in the U.S. and these grads then go to work in India. Building skills in a mature market like the U.S. allows them to hit the ground running in India," Shelton said.

This is not only unethical and immoral, it is against US law. But IBM keeps these white-collar crimes under wraps by blaming the victims--new American grads, older workers, women, minorities and even our children attending public schools.

Infosys

Infosys is being sued for discriminatory hiring practices.

According to the lawsuit, "Infosys is an Indian company that has roughly 15,000 employees in the United States. While roughly 1-2% of the U.S. population is of South Asian descent, roughly 90% of Infosys’s U.S. workforce is of South Asian descent (primarily Indian)."

"This disproportionate workforce is a result of Infosys’s intentional employment discrimination against individuals who are not South Asian, including discrimination in the hiring, promotion, compensation, and termination of individuals."

Manpower

Manpower is posting jobs on Indian sites, seeking labor for American projects, with five or more months of lead time.

The comments on that page are particularly sad. You'd think with all this discriminatory hiring in favor of Indians, it would be because of nationalism. It's not - an Indian American, probably a green card holder or a naturalized citizen, reports that he was rolled off a project, and they hired an H1B visa holder to replace him.

Another worked for three years for Infosys, and was let go after being strung along over and over, with promises. The pay was good, but the discrimination and treatment were not.

Boycott

Consumer boycotts target products, but the main product being produced by IBM, Infosys, and Manpower are "services", or to use a more accurate term, "labor". These are labor contractor companies, temp agencies, whose business function is not only to allow outsourcing, but to hold talent within a single company to concentrate expertise.

What workers can do to fight against these companies is to withhold their labor.

By depriving these companies of labor, we deprive them of profits.
