Feel the love Memorial Day walking tour

Date:
Saturday, May 24, 2014

9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Event Type:
Teach-In

David Giesen
Location Details:

San Francisco

Memorial Day is meant to honor fallen U.S. veterans of wars, but as it is peace that a nation seeks not war, Memorial Day ought properly to honor those who have labored most for the conditions that most surely foster and sustain peace.

Peace is most certain where there is consensual coordination, where none feel oppressed by privileges enjoyed by others, where opportunity to use nature is not conditional upon the consent of mere private landowners.

Come along on a walking tour of San Francisco social movement history exploring some of the episodes in local experience where the above mentioned features and conditions of peace have been pursued more or less resolutely.

We'll celebrate the lives of three mighty San Francisco figures whose resolute commitment to genuine peace bears timely upon today's factional housing crisis.
