Steve Schlicht Vows to Personally SHUT DOWN the Needle Exchange
Public Safety advocate sick and tired of finding needles everywhere...
Steve Schlicht is mad as hell! After ten years of residency in Santa Cruz, the former Public Safety Task Force member finally found his first stray needle. “When it rains it pours”, Schlicht posted on Facebook today. “Yesterday I found my first needle…today I found three more. Why should we have to tolerate this shit?” Schlicht vowed to go to any length to end the exchange, “even if that means publicly shaming the county and hurting our local economy by doing so.” We will update you on this logic as it develops.

Originally, our Fresno exchange operated in a city park. After used needles were found in a play area sandbox, the exchange took action. It wasn't made to move, but organizers realized there could be blowback so it relocated to a nearby industrial area. It's operated there for many years without substantial issues.
Needle exchange laws sunset in a year or two I believe. Problems like SC has had could be all the reason legislators need not to extend the laws allowing them to operate. I support harm reduction but it needs to be responsibly done.
