Corrupt King City Police Targeted Hispanics

by Police News
Seven have been charged, including two chiefs of police, in a police corruption case where Hispanic people were targeted by police in King City who allegedly took their property unlawfully.
"Monterey County District Attorney Dean Flippo said King City's top law-enforcers became law-breakers when they orchestrated a scheme victimizing the most vulnerable residents in King City."

""The victims were economically disadvantaged persons of Hispanic descent who were targeted by having their vehicles impounded, towed and stored by Miller's Tow," Flippo said."

"Flippo said King City residents told investigators, "The police are taking our property. They are taking our cars. They take our money. And we can do nothing about that.""

""Most disturbing was that evidence was uncovered of a scheme whereby people participating in the scheme would receive free vehicles that had been impounded by officers within the department," Flippo said."

"FBI aided in arrests. The scheme allegedly involved officers getting cars that had been impounded, then selling for a profit."

"Many victims were low income Hispanic drivers who couldn't pay impound fees."
