Looking Ahead in the New Year
Mayoral Candidate Dan Siegel responds to Obama's State of the Union Address and Connects the Dots to Oakland
"New Years is a time for celebration, and a time to look forward. As we celebrate the Year of the Horse, we acknowledge the work that lies ahead. We need to bring real change to Oakland so that our city will be more safe, and our families more prosperous."
-Dan Siegel
Response to State of the Union Address
President Obama declared in his State of the Union address that this would be a year of decisive action for his administration. We certainly hope so, given the real inequities that persist in our communities.
"Upon reflection of the President's words, Dan said that, "Oakland is a poster child for the economic and social inequality President Obama addressed in his State of the Union speech. Our campaign seeks to unite and empower people in Oakland to challenge and overcome the conditions of poverty, unemployment, poor schools, and inadequate government services that reinforce the growing divide between the very privileged, and the low- and moderate-income people in U.S. society."
We've got a lot of work to do. We hope you will join us.
May this Year of the Horse be a productive time for this city we love so much!
