Peaceful SF Indigenous People's Weekend

by Register Peace & Freedom or Green
We enjoyed a beautiful October 13, 2013 in sunny San Francisco in peace, a welcome change from the 4-day strafing of San Francisco by the Navy’s Blue Death that has caused tremendous grief with their thundering roar over heavily populated San Francisco since then mayor Dianne Feinstein, the current war profiteering Democratic US Senator, invited this military recruiting show to San Francisco in 1981. Hopefully, this change, due to sequestration budget cuts, is permanent.

We did not however experience an end to the glorification of Columbus Genocide with a war parade that claimed to represent Italian Heritage when there was nothing in the parade that had anything to do with opera composter Giuseppe Verdi’s 200th birthday this year, all other Italian opera composers, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo or any other Italian culture the world loves and respects. The parade was mostly military contingents, mixed with glorification of cars better known as global warming machines, male chauvinism with beauty queens, horses marching on city streets without diapers, followed by City workers ready to scoop up the fertilizer, and superstition with the San Francisco Catholic Church, the same Catholic Church that sponsors the anti-abortion, anti-women parade in January on San Francisco’s main parade street, Market Street, when the majority of us celebrate the 1973 Supreme Court decision guaranteeing women a right to a safe and legal abortion. The small audience for this parade, which was kicked off Market Street in 1992, the 500th anniversary of the Columbus Genocide, and moved to Fisherman’s Wharf to promote Italian recipe restaurants staffed mostly by Latino workers, was primarily old people sitting at tables in the parking lane drinking alcohol. To this audience’s credit, they did not complain when peaceniks chanted to the teenage military contingents, “Don’t fight the bosses’ wars; fight the bosses here at home! Organize labor!”

The heavily used 30 and 45 buses, both electric, which primarily serve the Chinese immigrant workingclass community that has been the majority in North Beach since the 1950s, were diverted in the morning and until 3 p.m. or so at Sacramento, going on Sacramento to Van Ness to Chestnut, where the next stop was, in the swanky Marina District. The return trip to Stockton was the same Chestnut, to Van Ness, to Clay, the parallel street to Sacramento going the opposite direction. The 8X which goes to Fisherman’s Wharf on Stockton was diverted from the parade route. The City taxpayers also paid for lots of police to control the drinking and direct traffic. We also paid for painting of the Italian flag colors on poles in an area, North Beach, that has been Chinese immigrant since the 1950s when all European nationalities left San Francisco for the allegedly better schools in the suburbs, where they found anti-Semitism and all other forms of racism that exist in this backward, warmongering country. One of the most outrageous sights connected to this glorification of Columbus Genocide Day was parking of cars on the sensitive grass of Washington Square Park at Columbus and Union. Promoting global warming machines is bad enough; showing contempt for our parks is inexcusable, all brought to us by the Democratic Party election-frauding racist machine of San Francisco.

The crowning touch to this beautiful day without the military planes terrorizing San Francisco was the peace and quiet we enjoyed at Aquatic Park at the foot of Van Ness, swimming in the Bay while sailboats caught the gentle breeze and sea gulls rested in the warm sand. Our cherished view of the Bay, with the Golden Gate Bridge to the west, the hills to the North, the evergreen and multi-color trees framing the north edge of Aquatic Park, and the old boats displayed at Hyde Street Pier at the south end of Aquatic Park, was a dream long deferred, and finally realized.

We can only have this peaceful enjoyment of our National Seashore of which Aquatic Park is a part if we actively support the only parties that oppose the military, all blood for oil wars, promotion of automobiles, and oppose any glorification of Columbus Genocide, namely Peace & Freedom Party and the Green Party. Both parties need you now to stay on the ballot. You can register online at:
