Governor Jerry Brown intransigent on prison hunger strikers' demands
The LA Times reported this week that California prison hospitals were preparing to treat prisoners who have been on a hunger strike against inhumane prison conditions, meaning most of all solitary confinement, since July 8th. Somewhere between one and four hundred prisoners were at that time still refusing food. KPFA spoke to lifelong peace and justice activist and former California State Assemblyman Tom Haydon, who has been writing about the strike almost every day, in the LA Times, Huffington Post, and San Francisco Bay View, and on his own Peace Exchange Bulletin website, tomhayden.com.
