Summer Digital Media Experience
On Native Ground (ONG) is gearing up for an exciting summer of capturing the magic of the California State Fair through professional partnerships with selected student representatives from the Youth Broadcasting and Media Association (YBAMA), the California State Fair Youth Task Force, and selected students from local Sacramento area Tribal Communities to create the California State Fair Youth Media Production Studio.

The California State Fair Youth Media Production Studio will provide a unique opportunity to local youth to participate in the promotion and celebration of the California State Fair. The production center will be located in the Industrial & Technology Education Building, a working studio, during the duration of the California State Fair from July 12 – July 28, 2013, operating daily from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Under the supervision of On Native Ground’s industry professionals, the youth media teams will produce daily video segments of California State Fair events: covering personalities, entertainment, exhibitions, exhibitors and Fair-goers. Fair-goers are invited to be a part of this interactive digital media experience and to observe the youth media teams at work in their daily production schedule. The media teams will shoot daily content and edit their final video productions at the California State Fair Youth Media Production Studio. The working studio housed at the Industrial & Technology Education Building, Expo Center Building # 4 will contain an editing bay, a green screen, television monitors, and editing equipment for use by the youth media teams for pre- and post-production. The daily content created by the youth media teams will be uploaded to the California State Fair website and onto local network partners; cable television; radio programming; internet and web-casting broadcasts; and through social media outlets.

Partnership Goals
The major objective of this youth media project is to create community collaboration and build a new audience of California State Fair participants. By incorporating digital media technology and utilizing media teams that will immerse students into the real world of daily video production – we are creating a new audience through the eyes of our youth - to create a unique fair-going experience. On Native Ground has extensive experience in creating a youth mentorship program for community groups. Under the supervision of On Native Ground’s professional team, the youth media teams will learn through shadowing and accompanying our professionals in interviewing techniques, camera set up and editing. The media teams will gain real world industry experience through skill development of public speaking, conducting interviews, analyzing and researching their subject matter and topics of interest. They will become critical thinkers and listeners, as they develop and provide daily media coverage and promotion of the powerful and amazing worlds that make up the California State Fair.
