Despite Brutal Crackdown, Protesters Continue to Hold Gezi Park, Clashes Continue Elsewhere

Police continued to attack protesters with tear gas and water cannons through the night. A regular stream of injured protesters has been carried through Gezi Park. It was brutal police violence against peaceful protesters at Gezi Park that sparked Turkey's uprising two weeks ago. The original protests were against plans to turn the loved and historic Gezi Park into a shopping mall. Police brutality, however, sparked a mass uprising against Prime Minister Erdogan's anti-Democratic, Islamic, anti-worker, anti-human rights, anti-Kurd, and pro-Free Syria Army Regime. Despite brutally clearing Taksim Square, the Turkish government appears to be afraid of repeating that same level of violence against the protesters in Gezi Park that sparked the mass uprising two weeks ago. While tear gas, water cannons, and rubber bullets are being used against protesters elsewhere, the people at Gezi Park are presently able to lock arms and keep the cops out.

Down with Erdogan's brutal Capitalist / Islamic Regime!
