Racial Justice Demands Changes to Structure: Racial Justice Training

Stakeholders, Gatekeepers, Activists, Community Members and Students! You are invited to the first training on Institutionalized Racism in Santa Cruz County.

Santa Cruz County is known for its liberal atmosphere and agricultural abundance. However,this community has had a lengthy history of racial injustice and discrimination from the anti-Filipino riots in 1929 to the ongoing
police harassment of Latino and Black youth.

SCCCCOR focuses on exposing and addressing systemic racism found throughout the county institutions, especially within the sectors of education, law enforcement, and immigration. This training has been created to raise awareness about systemic and institutionalized racism, as well as to provide the tools needed to end the oppression.

Training and Discussion Topics:
Understanding the different forms of racism
Creating the language of “race”
Taking next steps to new knowledge
Strategies for practical racial healing

Breakfast
and lunch will be provided. Due to the amount of content and active
participation, we are limiting the amount of participants, so register

Training fees range from $20 to $50 and are determined on a sliding scale based on organizational budget or individual income.

SCCCCOR focuses on exposing and addressing systemic racism found throughout county
institutions,
especially within the sectors of education, law enforcement, and
immigration. We seek to alleviate the sometimes-unintended consequences
of policies, programs, and procedures that sometimes disenfranchise
people. We do this through education, community building, and raising
awareness through the individual group and community level. This
workshop is the core of this transformational work.
