US Ed Secretary Arnie Duncan Picketed By Teachers From The US And Around The World At AERA Conference In SF
Teachers from the US and around the world picketed US Education
Secretary Arne Duncan on April 30, 2013 at the national convention
of the American Educational Research Association which was meeting in
San Francisco. The education workers charged that Duncan was a
shill for the corporatization of education and privatizers who want to
destroy public education. They also charged that these corporations
and foundations like Gates, Broad and Walton are funding junk studies
to continue their privatization agenda including the expansion of charter
schools and sell off of public schools.
They opposed school closings, the mass firings of teachers, Duncan's
"Race to the Top" and "No Child Left Behind" and the testing agenda
which is benefiting companies like Pearson Inc.
