On May 6th, 2012, OPD Officer Miguel Masso shot and killed 18 year old Alan Blueford. Masso has a history of abuse of force and over a dozen witnesses to the murder testify that Alan was unarmed and posed no threat when he was killed. The Oakland Police Department has a long history of brutality and of killing young, unarmed black men. But District Attorney Nancy O'Malley consistently chooses to look the other way, accepting OPD's side of the story without any independent investigation.
The Justice for Alan Blueford coalition, led by Alan's mother Jeralynn as well as activists from all over the country, calls upon the Alameda District Attorney's office to reopen the investigation of Miguel Masso and Alan's murder.
